Princess Beatrice Wears Queen Elizabeth’s Tiara, Dress on her Wedding

At her wedding this week, Princess Beatrice wore the same tiara which her grandmother Queen Elizabeth wore, Buckingham Palace said, sharing more information on the unexpected, private ceremony that was scaled back because of the coronavirus pandemic. The 31-year-old Princess Beatrice married Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi at Windsor Castle Friday with none of the regular royal pomp and fanfare. She is the eldest daughter of the Duchess of York, Prince Andrew and Sarah.

The couple had originally intended to marry in May. But they force to reschedule by the coronavirus shutdown and hold a low-key ceremony. Among the few who attended were the 94-year-old monarch and her husband Prince Philip, 99. In England, wedding ceremonies permit since July 4 but with a maximum of 30 guests.

British media said the “secret” marriage would be the first time the queen saw her second son Andrew, 60 since his friend Ghislaine Maxwell was arrested in the U.S. Maxwell charges with luring underage girls to sexual assault for late American financier Jeffrey Epstein, charges she denies. U.S investigators still want to interview the British prince. It is about his communications with Epstein. But says he has evaded their requests so far, an accusation he denies.

Buckingham Palace said Beatrice, who is 9th in line with the throne, wore Norman Hartnell ‘s vintage ivory dress. Also, Queen Mary’s diamond fringe tiara, both loaned to her by the queen for the day. When Elizabeth married Philip in 1947, she wore the same tiara along with a diamond necklace. It is of Queen Victoria for her wedding in 1919.
