Iran Issues Arrest Warrant on U.S. President Donald Trump

Iran issued U.S. President Donald Trump’s arrest warrant on January ‘s killing of senior Iranian commander Gen Qasem Soleimani in Iraq. Prosecutor Ali Alqasimehr in Tehran said Mr Trump and 35 others were facing charges of murder and terrorism, and that they had been asked to help Interpol detain them. Interpol, however, said that it would not accept the Iranian offer.

The US special representative for Iran said that the warrant was a trick of deception that no one should take seriously. Soleimani died in a drone attack near Baghdad International Airport authorized by Mr Trump, who said that the general was responsible for the killing of hundreds of American soldiers and was plotting imminent assaults. Iran retaliated by firing ballistic missiles at Iraqi bases that housed US troops.

Mr Trump was at the top of the list and the prosecutor. It adds that his detention pursues long after his presidency ends. Deputy Foreign Minister Mohsen Baharvand said Iran’s judiciary will soon issue. It is an accusation for those involved in the attack on Gen Soleimani. Also, hoped to trace the drone operators, the Isna news agency reported.

An Interpol Red Notice is a worldwide law enforcement order to locate and interim arrest. It is on an individual awaiting extradition, surrender or similar legal action. It is not a warrant for international detention.

So, Interpol’s headquartered in the French city of Lyon. Also, it told the BBC that it will not accept the appeal for assistance from Iran.

According to experts, issuing the arrest warrant is nothing more than a symbolic act by Iran. But it reflects the degree of hostility felt by President Trump.
